Training for health, education and labor mediators from Veliko Tarnovo

IOM Bulgaria, in partnership with the Local Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings - Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, carried out a regional training for health, education and labor mediators from the Veliko Tarnovo area. 

The aim of the training was to raise the participants’ awareness about the job opportunities in Europe and the realization on the labor market in different European countries, necessary steps for a safe migration and fair work, the risks and prevention of trafficking for labor and sexual exploitation, ways of protection and useful contacts in cases in need of help. 

The greater part of the event took the form of a discussion - the attendees presented the various cases, problems and issues related to human trafficking and illegal migration, which they face in their activities. The key conclusions from the meeting were the paramount importance of inter-institutional cooperation, as well as the need for preventive work with children from the youngest age. 

The training was attended by 25 people - health, labor and educational mediators from the municipalities of Veliko Tarnovo, Gorna Oryahovitsa, Lyaskovets, Pavlikeni, Svishtov, Zlataritsa, Elena and Strazhitsa.
